*** RDS COMMUNITY NEWS *** Dance Education Training This past summer Nicole Coughlin, Elizabeth Allen and Shannon Dragsbaek attended the Dance Education Training Course offered by the Dance Teacher's Club of Boston. I’d like to offer special CONGRATULATIONS to these girls on successfully completing their second year of the program. (Only one more year to go!) Student Workshop
The following students attended the DTCB Student Dance Workshop, Sunday November 15th at Lantana’s in Randolph, MA. Junior Division: Meredith Allen, Tess Beardsley, Olivia Eiten, Anna Joseph, Haley Wong. Intermediate Division: Lilly Beardsley, Karissa Chao, Rhys Conklin, Sarah Corda, Tori Coughlin, Kate Letai, Erin Touhey. Senior Division: Elizabeth Allen, Shannon Dragsbaek. These students enjoyed exciting dance classes with an outstanding faculty in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary and Hip Hop. Great job representing RDS Performing Arts! Jr. Hip Hop
Miss Nichole Jackman will be instructing the Junior Hip Hop course on Fridays from 4:00 - 5:00 offered to grades 3 - 6. This class is a fun and energizing program. Students will be dancing to today’s popular music. Kate Distaso and Kerri Mack, graduates of RDS Performing Arts and currently studying dance at Dean College, will be assisting Miss Nichole. Kara Pendlebury will be joining the RDS performing arts staff this year. She will be instructing the Senior Hip Hop classes on Monday evenings from 8:00 - 9:00. We'd like to welcome Kara’s energy and talents to RDS! Kara’s unique choreograph and teaching credentials keep her in high demand throughout New England and New York City. Kara’s choreography has been acknowledged on a regional and national level for many dance competitions throughout the USA and Canada making her a recipient of top choreography awards. Lastly Kara has recently been added as a member of the Dance Xplosion judging team and will start touring in 2010 for the competitive season. Miss Kathy Gillis will continue to teach the Preschool and Intro Ballet programs on Wednesday afternoon. We are thrilled to welcome Miss Kathy back for her fourth year at RDS Performing Arts. Once again, Miss Elissa DiBona, will be joining RDS Performing Arts studio for ballet intensive/lyrical classes. She will be teaching at the RDS Nutcracker Ballet Workshop Saturday, December 5th. Broadway Bound
Tori Heinlein, has been chosen for the understudy role of Susan Waverly in Irving Berlin’s White Christmas on Broadway, November 13 - January 3, 2010, at the Marquis Theatre 1535 Broadway, New York City. Tori has been a student at RDS Performing Arts for six years studying Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Hip Hop. Congratulations on your success Tori! Keep on dancing! Musical Production
RDS students’ Brianna Borghi, Rhys Conklin, Katie McPherson and Fiona Gray will be performing in the Dover Sherborn musical “Brigadoon” December 3 - 5. Brianna Borghi will be portraying the main character Fiona on Thursday December 3rd & Saturday December 5th. Good luck and have fun!
