ATTENDANCE AND MAKE-UP CLASSES
ATTENDANCE IS VERY IMPORTANT TO THE STUDENT AS WELL AS THE TEACHER. FOR PROGRESS TO BE SEEN IN YOUR
CHILD, IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOUR CHILD MAINTAIN GOOD ATTENDANCE. PLEASE HAVE THE STUDENT ATTEND
CLASSES REGULARLY. NOTIFY THE SCHOOL IF YOU ARE ABSENT, AND WE WILL RECOMMEND A MAKE-UP CLASS. IN THE
EVENT OF AN ABSENCE, PAYMENT IS DUE FOR THE MISSED CLASS. MISSED CLASSES MUST BE MADE UP WITHIN 30 DAYS.
DANCE ATTIRE
ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A LEOTARD AND TIGHTS AT ALL TIMES. THE LEOTARD MUST BE SOLID
BLACK OF ANY STYLE. TIGHTS MAY BE PINK, BLACK OR SUNTAN. SOLID CHIFFON BALLET SKIRTS AND DANCE
SWEATERS ARE ALLOWED (NO TUTUS ALLOWED). FOR GRADES 5 AND UP, SOLID BLACK CHIFFON BALLET
SKIRTS ARE REQUIRED FOR BALLET CLASS, SOLID BLACK SHORTS/JAZZ PANTS ARE ALLOWED IN TAP AND
JAZZ PROGRAMS. HAIR MUST BE SECURED AWAY FROM THE FACE AND NECK.

SNOW DAY
VERY OFTEN
THE WEATHER IS HORRIBLE IN THE MORNING AND BRIGHT AND SUNNY WHEN DANCE CLASS BEGINS IN THE
AFTERNOON. INFORMATION RECEIVED FROM THE MID-DAY WEATHER REPORT WILL HELP DETERMINE CLASS
CANCELLATION. PLEASE CALL THE STUDIO AFTER 12:30 PM FOR SNOW DAY INFORMATION. THE TELEPHONE ANNOUNCEMENT
WILL GIVE AN UPDATE ON THE DANCE SCHEDULE.

DRESS REHEARSAL AND DANCE REVUE INFORMATION
AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR WE HOLD OUR DANCE REVUE AT THE SORENSON CENTER FOR THE ARTS. OUR
ANNUAL DANCE PROGRAM IS HELD MID MAY/EARLY JUNE FOR ALL STUDENTS WHO WISH TO PARTICIPATE.
THE DANCE REVUE PROGRAM PROVIDES EACH STUDENT WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO PERFORM BEFORE AN AUDIENCE
OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS. THIS DEMONSTRATION OF TALENT AND SHOWMANSHIP BRINGS EXCITEMENT TO
THE STUDENTS, FOR WHICH THEY HAVE WORKED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO ACHIEVE.
THERE IS ONE RUN-THRU REHEARSAL IN LEOTARDS, AND ONE MANDATORY DRESS REHEARSAL IN FULL COSTUME
AT THE SORENSON CENTER. PARTICIPATION IS NOT MANDATORY, HOWEVER, ONCE THE COMMITMENT IS
MADE, (IN NOVEMBER) THE FOLLOWING MUST BE OBSERVED.
STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO PURCHASE A COSTUME FOR EACH ROUTINE IN WHICH THEY PARTICIPATE.
COSTUME PAYMENT SCHEDULE
COSTUMES WILL BE PAID FOR IN TWO PAYMENTS
DUE 1ST WEEK OF NOVEMBER / WITH TUITION PAYMENT:
A $50.00 DEPOSIT PER COSTUME FOR PRE-SCHOOL THRU GRADE 4
A $60.00 DEPOSIT PER COSTUME FOR GRADES 5 AND UP
DUE 1ST WEEK OF FEBRUARY:
BALANCE ON COSTUME(S)
‘RDS PERFORMING ARTS’ ORDERS COSTUMES FROM MANY COMPANIES BASED THROUGHOUT THE UNITED
STATES. THE COMPANIES REQUIRE PAYMENT FOR THE COSTUMES AT THE TIME THEY ARE ORDERED. PLEASE KEEP
IN THIS IN MIND WHEN PAYMENTS ARE DUE AS COSTUMES WILL NOT BE ORDERED WITHOUT A DEPOSIT. NO EXCEPTIONS
WILL BE MADE.
THE COSTUME DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE

SPECIAL NOTES
- ALL STUDENTS MUST HAVE PROPER ATTIRE PER THE STUDIO DRESS CODE ONLY.
HAIR MUST BE SECURED FIRMLY AWAY FROM THE FACE AND NECK, LONG HAIR MUST BE TIED BACK.
- JEWELRY - MUST BE KEPT TO A MINIMUM, NO DANGLE EARRINGS, BANGLE BRACELETS OR ANKLE
BRACELETS, ETC.
- ALL LESSONS ARE TO BE PAID FOR - WHETHER THE STUDENT IS PRESENT OR NOT, REFUNDS WILL
NOT BE GIVEN FOR MISSED CLASSES AND MAY NOT BE CARRIED FORWARD OR TRANSFERRED.
- ALL MAKE-UP CLASSES FOR STUDENTS ARE ARRANGED WITH THE DIRECTOR AND ARE SCHEDULED AT
THE TEACHER’S CONVENIENCE.
- CLASSES THAT FAIL TO MAINTAIN A MINIMUM ENROLLMENT OF 10 STUDENTS MAY BE CANCELED AT
THE DISCRETION OF THE TEACHER.
- STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN CLASS IF TUITION FALLS TWO (2) MONTHS BEHIND IN PAYMENT.
- ANY STUDENT WHO DISCONTINUES LESSONS AUTOMATICALLY FORFEITS REGISTRATION AND CLASS
TUITIONS, AND IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY UNPAID BALANCE. THEY MUST NOTIFY THE STUDIO OR
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR IMMEDIATELY OR THEY WILL BE BILLED TO THE DATE OF NOTIFICATION.
- ALL STUDENTS MAY PARTICIPATE IN THE ANNUAL DANCE REVUE BY THEIR CHOICE. NOTICE OF CHOICE
MUST BE MADE BY THE FIRST COSTUME PAYMENT, WHICH IS DUE THE FIRST WEEK OF NOVEMBER.
- A STUDENT MAY BE DENIED THE PRIVILEGE OF PARTICIPATION IN THE ANNUAL DANCE REVUE BASED ON
CONDUCT, OR POOR CLASS ATTENDANCE.
- STUDENTS TUITION AND COSTUME ACCOUNT MUST BE PAID IN FULL TO PARTICIPATE IN ALL
REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES.
LIABILITY DISCLAIMER
‘RDS PERFORMING ARTS’ WILL NOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR PERSONAL OR LOSS OF DAMAGE TO PERSONAL
PROPERTY. SINCE DANCE IS A PHYSICAL ACTIVITY, INJURIES MAY OCCUR. ANY STUDENT MAY DECLINE
TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY ACTIVITY WHICH THEY FEEL HARMFUL TO THEIR PHYSICAL BEING AND IS ALSO
RESPONSIBLE TO INFORM THE INSTRUCTOR OF ANY PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS WHICH MAY PREVENT FULL
PARTICIPATION IN CLASS.
THOSE NOT ABIDING BY THE RULES AND REGULATIONS OF ‘RDS PERFORMING ARTS’ WILL BE DISMISSED.
